About OTA MAGAZIN

Why OTA MAGAZIN exists

The automotive industry is facing one of the biggest technological shifts in decades. Vehicles are becoming more connected, more software-based and more data-driven. What is still perceived as a new digital side topic today will be an integral part of the market in the future: over-the-air technology.

This is no longer just about software updates. OTA will change how vehicles are evaluated, diagnosed, updated, marketed and used. For dealerships, used car dealers, sellers, buyers and many other players in the industry, this creates new opportunities — but also new challenges.

That is exactly why OTA MAGAZIN exists.

We want to help ensure that the automotive industry does not miss this development. Our goal is to make knowledge accessible, to put developments into understandable context and to help companies understand over-the-air technology for what it is: a key building block for the future of the automotive market.

Our approach

OTA MAGAZIN is a specialist portal for everyone who wants to understand over-the-air technology beyond the surface.

We write for people who work in the market. For dealers, sellers, buyers, decision-makers, remarketing experts and everyone who deals with vehicles, valuations, customers and digital change every day.

Our aim is to present complex topics in a way that makes them tangible. Not unnecessarily technical, not generic, not detached from practice — but understandable, relevant and focused on what they actually mean for automotive retail.

We don’t just want to report on new technologies. We want to explain what they mean for the industry.

  • Which developments are really changing vehicle retail?
  • What role will OTA, vehicle data and battery values play in buying and selling in the future?
  • What opportunities arise from digital transparency?
  • Which limits need to be viewed realistically?
  • And how can companies make use of these changes instead of merely reacting to them?

From practice, for practice

OTA MAGAZIN is built on real market experience.

Patrick Schröder and Tim Hochgreef have been deeply involved in the automotive industry for almost 20 years. Their background lies in particular in international vehicle trading and remarketing — precisely the areas where vehicle valuation, market transparency, process speed and reliable information play a decisive role.

In recent years, their focus has shifted increasingly towards the future of e-mobility, digital vehicle data and new technological possibilities in the automotive market. OTA MAGAZIN grew out of this perspective: as a platform that does not look at technological developments in isolation, but always puts them into context from the industry’s point of view.

Anyone who knows the trade knows: new technologies are only relevant if they create real added value in everyday business.

They have to improve processes, make decisions easier, reduce risks, create transparency or open up new opportunities. This practical focus is exactly what OTA MAGAZIN brings to its content.

The authors

Patrick Schröder has known the automotive industry from practice for almost 20 years. His experience ranges from vehicle trading to international remarketing. Through his work in the market, he knows the challenges dealers, buyers and sellers face today: growing competitive pressure, higher customer expectations, more digital processes and the increasing need for reliable vehicle data.

Today his focus is particularly on how new technologies can make automotive retail more efficient, more transparent and more future-proof.

Tim Hochgreef also brings almost 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. His view of the market is shaped by international vehicle trading, remarketing and an in-depth engagement with digital developments around e-mobility, vehicle data and new valuation possibilities.

He focuses in particular on how technological developments can be translated into real market processes — and what opportunities this creates for trading, valuation and marketing.

Our perspective on OTA

In our view, over-the-air is becoming one of the most important future topics in the automotive market. Today, OTA is often still equated with updates. But that falls short. Over-the-air stands for a bigger shift: vehicles become digitally accessible, data becomes easier to use, and technical information can increasingly be provided without traditional on-site processes.

This affects many areas:

  • Valuation, marketing and customer advice
  • Software versions and updates
  • Vehicle diagnostics and condition information
  • Battery data and State of Health
  • digital documentation in the used car trade
  • new services and functions

This shift is particularly noticeable in the used car market. Anyone who values or sells vehicles will increasingly have to work with digital information. A vehicle’s condition is no longer described only by mileage, model year and equipment. Software, data, battery health and digital transparency are becoming more important as well.

OTA MAGAZIN wants to accompany this development and make it understandable.

What sets us apart from traditional car portals

To unlock this potential, knowledge is needed. Context is needed. And it takes people who understand both the technology and the market.

OTA MAGAZIN wants to create exactly this connection.

We want to actively educate, provide orientation and help companies in the automotive market understand early on which developments are relevant. Because those who understand OTA can make better decisions — in buying, in selling, in customer advice, in valuation and in the strategic development of their business.

Our goal

OTA MAGAZIN aims to develop into the German-language knowledge portal for over-the-air technology in automotive retail.

We want to create a central point of reference for everyone dealing with OTA, vehicle data, battery data, remote diagnostics and the digital future of the automotive market.

To this end, we publish articles, analyses and practice-oriented content that provide orientation and make relevant topics understandable.

Our goal is not to generate short-term attention. Our goal is to build knowledge — long-term, well-founded and with real value for the industry.

Looking ahead

The coming years will be decisive. Over-the-air technology will continue to evolve, new applications will emerge and digital vehicle data will play an ever greater role in the market.

For the automotive industry, this means change. But also a great opportunity.

OTA MAGAZIN accompanies this change with expertise, practical insight and a clear view of the future of automotive retail.

Trust through data transparency

“We clarify in advance how SoH data can be integrated into your purchasing and valuation processes. Via a VIN query, you receive the battery condition directly from the manufacturer – no plug, no workshop visit.”
